Free Range Butcher

Meat lovers are fast switching to organic and free range meat for whetting their appetites. Free range meat is much healthier than the regular varieties of meat. This is why many people are specifically purchasing this meat from the local butcher shop.

How to Cook Meat Purchased from the Local Free Range Butcher Shop

To cook the perfect steak from grass-fed beef:

  • Season the steak with salt and leave it for some time
  • Place the steak in the pan (using only a little olive oil to prevent the steak from sticking) after heating the pan to seal in the juices
  • Cook each side for three to six minutes each for a rare-done or a well-done steak respectively

The best pork roasts come from cuts such as the leg, the rack, the rolled loin or shoulder. If the cut of pork has a rind, pre-heat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Once the rind becomes crisp, reduce the temperature to 180 degrees Celsius. If the cut does not have a rind, maintain a temperature of 180 degrees Celsius. Cook the roast until you find the middle portion remains a little pink.

Many free-range butchers provide chickens that come with the appropriate stuffing. Roasting this chicken is very easy. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Place the chicken in the roasting pan. Season it with salt, pepper and herbs such as thyme or garlic. You could add some potatoes and carrots to the pan for roasting it, so that the chicken can absorb the natural juices. Stick a skewer into the thickest part of the thigh. Keep cooking it until you find the juices running clear with no pink.
